Not receiving GPS/Waiting for height Cmd

Created by David B, Modified on Sun, 24 Nov, 2024 at 8:02 PM by T3RRA Ag

Symptom:

Level Command is reporting "No GPS" or "Waiting for Height Cmd"

Cause:

The receiver and ECU aren't communicating properly. This could be faulty wiring, or perhaps insufficient NMEA messages/GPS data.

Solutions:

  1. Check your receiver settings to ensure the correct data strings are being sent to the appropriate port.

    NMEA GPGGA @ 10 Hz

    NMEA GPGSA @ 10  Hz

Preferably also: NMEA GPVTG @ 10  Hz

  2. Check your receiver settings to ensure that the baud rate in use matches that expected by your T3RRA software. The rates configured in each must match. The default is 115200.

Sometimes for longer cable runs it can help to lower the baud rate to 56000. Any lower and you risk not having enough bandwidth.

  3. Check your cabling.
  4. Perform Windows updates.
